Sample Preparation Lab
The sample preparation laboratory is equipped for cutting, thinning and polishing thin and thick sections used in fluid and melt inclusions studies.

SEM Lab
The SEM Laboratory is equipped with a CamScan MX2500 Scanning Electron Microscope with LaB6 gun. Back-scatter electron (BSE) images and Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS) maps are both used to identify phases within polycrystalline inclusions.

Piston Cylinder Lab
The piston cylinder laboratory is equipped with a QUICKpress piston cylinder apparatus produced by Depths of the Earth.

Piston cylinder, piston cylinder controller and arc welder.
The remelting of nanogranitoids is a fundamental step necessary to recover the original chemical composition of the melt. In order to re-homogenize the crystallized inclusions, a piston cylinder apparatus is required because experiments must be done at pressure conditions equal or higher than that of the entrapment in the host.
